FⒶt update v2.1

After almost 3 years of fⒶt being available for folks to play I decided to commit to the first major update to the project.

Character sprite art:

Back when the original gain jam version was released back in 2021 I used to use a method of drawing on paper then scanning the sprite drawing onto my computer before filling in all colours with paintbucket on ms paint. As you can tell from that version my art skills and character designs were not very clean and were a major criticism folks had with the original version of the game. I have over the past 2 weeks have redrawn all the character sprites in photoshop using a tablet and have added hard shadows and a slightly cleaner look to all of the cast of characters. 

Ending art:

In the original version of the game the endings were character sprites against the regular scene background, this was a terrible idea since using the previously mentioned method for drawing characters I was limited in space to draw the character hence they looked a little squashed in the final endings of the original version. In this update I have removed those original ending sprites all together and replaced them with full splash background pictures instead.

Grammar and spelling:

This is a section that was also touched up upon by players over the past few years that perceived some words and phases being miss spelt. The English dialect being spoken by the cast is what's known as a Geordie accent which is heavily spoken in the North East of England around Sunderland, Newcastle and South Shields so if some words and phrases seem unfamiliar then that is why. That being said some lines have been re-written or removed outright due to pacing reasons and some small spelling corrections have been made in this update which may continue in the future.

Audio balancing:

Background audio such as music and sound effects have been given a slight lowering of volume due to sudden loudness spikes in the original released version.

Janes major character change:

One of the more obvious changes in this update in cast member Jane. Jane is a part of the Oi/Skinhead subculture that was a counter culture movement in the uk in the 60s and 70s and has it's origins in Rudeboy, Reggae and Ska music. Since the game was made to showcase subcultures I included this subculture in the game, however due to the Skinhead subculture itself splintering and being hijacked a lot of folks (especially Americans) associate it as a Racist/Neo-Nazi thing, which is why it is all the more important why Jane was changed from being a buzzcut bald white woman in a tank top to a black woman with a reverse mullet wearing a button shirt. A lot of early and even current skinheads are black and the whole subculture has its roots in Afro-Caribbean British culture and want to the new Jane to reflect that.

Final notes:

May continue producing updates in the near future but please note that the game will not be extended further in the story.
